Description
Fudgy cocoa meets moist, ripe banana in this incredibly easy brownie hybrid! Whisk melted butter and sugar, then fold in the fruit for an ultimate, cakey-chewy treat.
Ingredients
- All-Purpose Flour (1 cup)
- Unsweetened Cocoa Powder (1/2 cup)
- Granulated Sugar (1 cup)
- Ripe Bananas, mashed (3 medium)
- Unsalted Butter, melted (1/2 cup)
- Large Egg (1)
- Vanilla Powder (1 teaspoon)
- Baking Soda (1 teaspoon)
Instructions
- Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease and line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang on two sides for easy removal later.
- Step 2: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Beat in the egg and vanilla powder, followed by the mashed bananas, ensuring the mixture is smooth.
- Step 3: In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and baking soda. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing only until just combined. Be careful not to overmix the batter.
- Step 4: Pour the batter evenly into the prepared 8×8 inch pan. Bake for 28 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached (not completely clean like a cake, but not wet batter).
- Step 5: Let the banana bread brownies cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang. Slice into 16 squares and serve.
Notes
- Store cooled leftovers tightly wrapped in plastic wrap or in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain optimal fudginess.
- To enjoy a 'just-baked' texture, microwave individual squares for 10-15 seconds or warm briefly in a 300°F oven before serving.
- For an indulgent dessert, top a warmed square with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream and a light drizzle of caramel sauce.
- For the deepest flavor and moistest crumb, ensure your three bananas are well beyond spotted—the blacker the peel, the sweeter and more potent the banana flavor will be in your brownies.
