- 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breast
- 8 large flour tortillas (10-inch size)
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves fresh garlic, minced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (plus more for seasoning chicken)
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
Instructions
- Step 1: Season the chicken breast with salt and pepper, then cook by grilling, baking, or pan-frying until fully done (internal temperature of 165°F). Once cooled slightly, shred or dice the chicken into small, uniform pieces.
- Step 2: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and Italian seasoning. Sauté for approximately 60 seconds until the garlic is fragrant, taking care not to burn it.
- Step 3: Add the shredded chicken and 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese to the skillet. Stir continuously until the cheese is completely melted and the chicken is thoroughly coated in the cheesy garlic sauce. Stir in the chopped parsley and remove the mixture from the heat.
- Step 4: Lay out the flour tortillas. Scoop approximately 1/3 cup of the chicken filling onto the center of each tortilla. Fold in the sides of the tortilla, then tightly roll it from the bottom edge upwards to form a secure, closed wrap.
- Step 5: Heat a separate, clean skillet or a griddle over medium heat. Place the rolled wraps seam-side down and grill for 2-3 minutes per side, or until the exterior is golden brown, crispy, and the cheese filling is piping hot. Slice diagonally and serve immediately.
Notes
- When melting the butter for the filling, keep the heat moderate; if the garlic starts browning quickly, add a splash of water or chicken broth to stop the cooking and prevent bitterness.
- For a fresh, crunchy counterpoint to the rich, cheesy filling, serve the wraps alongside a simple green salad dressed with vinaigrette or a cool sour cream dip.
- To store, refrigerate leftover filling in an airtight container for up to 3 days; however, we highly recommend grilling and eating the assembled wraps immediately to enjoy maximum crispness.
- To revive leftover grilled wraps, skip the microwave; reheat them for 5-7 minutes in an air fryer set to 350°F or on a baking sheet in a hot oven until the exterior is crispy and the filling is piping hot.
