Description

Sip summer! This Homemade Mango Iced Tea blends vibrant mango puree with rich black tea and a zesty lime kick. A refreshing, fruity escape perfect for sunny days. Full recipe & nutrition facts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and cubed (approx. 2 cups)
  • 3 black tea bags or 2 tablespoons loose leaf black tea
  • 3 cups hot water, divided
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (or to taste)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • Ice cubes, for serving
  • Fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Step 1: Brew a strong black tea by placing tea bags or loose leaf tea in 2 cups of hot water. Let it steep for 5-7 minutes, then remove the tea bags/strain the leaves and allow the tea to cool completely to room temperature.
  2. Step 2: While the tea cools, prepare the mango puree. Combine the cubed mangoes with 1 cup of hot water in a blender and blend until completely smooth. You can strain the puree through a fine-mesh sieve if you prefer a pulp-free texture.
  3. Step 3: In a large pitcher or jug, combine the cooled black tea, the mango puree, granulated sugar, and fresh lime juice. Stir well with a spoon until the sugar has fully dissolved.
  4. Step 4: Taste the mango iced tea and adjust the sweetness or tartness to your preference by adding more sugar or lime juice if needed. Refrigerate the tea for at least 30 minutes, or until thoroughly chilled.
  5. Step 5: To serve, fill glasses generously with ice cubes. Pour the chilled homemade mango iced tea over the ice. Garnish each glass with a fresh mango slice or a sprig of mint, if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Keep any leftover mango iced tea in an airtight pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days; a quick stir before pouring will redistribute any settled mango puree.
  • This delightful beverage is meant to be served thoroughly chilled and should not be reheated, as it's designed to be a refreshing cold drink.
  • To elevate your serving, consider adding a splash of sparkling water or club soda to each glass for a fizzy, lighter mango iced tea spritzer.
  • For the most vibrant flavor and natural sweetness, always choose mangoes that are truly ripe and fragrant; this enhances the drink's body and reduces the need for extra added sugar.
